Traffic Analysis
WAN
Most IP traffic shares and competes for bandwidth. Some traffic is "polite" and behaves in a way that causes little conflict with other traffic. Some traffic on the other hand is not and causes a great deal of conflict.
This conflict is seen as "freezing" applications, slow responses, random session disconnections and even devices "dropping off the networks"
Printing,Web browsing and file transfers are the most common rogues and frequently disrupt interactive traffic such as Citrix and Terminal Services.
LAN
Lan implementations are considered simple to execute but often little thought is given to the impact of broadcast domains. All client nodes need to acquire the MAC addresses of the nodes providing the services they wish to use. They do this using Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) by sending out a broadcast that must be received and inspected by all nodes. In a large organisation the proliferation of these (and other) broadcasts can have disruptive impacts on performance. At times "Broadcast Storms" can disable a network. Proper control of broadcasts, VLANs, switching loops, spanning tree, resillient links and agregated links can ensure a responsive and reliable network
Stack Services
Stack is able to use an array of tools and techniques to analyse the traffic, determine a corrective strategy and implement the technology to impose proper control.
